Ambulance Emergency Care Assistant
The role of an Emergency Care
Assistant (ECA) is to support clinically qualified practitioners in the provision of high quality and effective prehospital clinical care.
Including working in the community, responding to a wide variety of situations including medical emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions and other allocated operational activities commensurate with the role.
You will drive a range of vehicles, under both emergency and nonemergency conditions as required.
You will work under the direction and/or supervision of a clinically qualified practitioner e.g., Paramedic, Technician, Paramedic Practitioner, Emergency Care Practitioner or Clinical Supervisor.
The qualifications you will
receive for this role are:
- Level 3 Certificate in First Response
Emergency Care (RQF) - Level 4 Certificate in First Response
Emergency Care (RQF) - Level 3 Certificate in Safe
Administration of Lifesaving Medication (SALM) (RQF)

Emergency Ambulance Technician
The purpose of the Emergency
Medical Technician role is to assist in the delivery of high-quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care, responding to 999 emergencies, inter-hospital transfers and urgent hospital admissions.
Working as a crew, you’ll attend
emergencies, providing appropriate care and effective treatment for patients but also giving care, reassurance and support to the patient and relatives. You will need to be able to select and apply your skills, training and equipment safely to achieve the best possible outcome for your patient.
Pre-requisite for this course is a
FREC 4 qualification or must
have completed Option 1.
The qualification you will

- Level 5 Diploma in First Response Emergency and Urgent Care (RQF)

Lead Auditor
An ISO Lead Auditor is a professional responsible for auditing an organisation’s management system by applying widely accepted auditing standards, procedures, principles, and techniques.
Employers/business owners value management systems auditors as they guide and ensure that their organisations stay compliant with the legal requirements of the ISO management system standards.
The responsibilities of the ISO Lead Auditor include but are not limited to the following:
- Managing a team of Internal Auditors within the performance of internal audits
- Appointing roles and duties to internal audit team members to ensure the success of the audit
- Leading an external audit team and ensuring that audit reports are honest, accurate, impartial, and useful
- Auditing organisations and determining compliance or otherwise with the respective management system
- Identify organisational processes as well as identify opportunities for improvement
- Opening and closing an audit meeting and assisting with follow-up audit.
The qualification you will receive for this role is:
- Level 4 Certificate in the Principles of International Lead Auditing
The Lead Auditor’s course is not currently available through ELCAS.
